3) The target audience
If you can’t find the official target audience for the programme, make an educated guess based on the rest of your research. Remember: % gender, age range, social class, level of education, job/earnings etc.

Gender- Both male and female
Age range- 30-70
Social Class- Lower Middle class
Level of education- Educated
Job/Earnings- Unemployed/Minimum Wage-Benefits/Retired

4) The running order for three separate editions of the programme. Watch at least 20 minutes of the programme on THREE separate days and write down the following:

  • The news stories that appeared
  • The order in which the stories were broadcast
  • Why you think the editors of the news programme chose those stories and put them in that order.

  1. Ed Milliband and Nick Clegg make last minute plans to campaign in Scotland.
  2. MH17 Crash Report

I think they chose the Scotland story because it affects the whole nation and to gain support to keep the UK as the UK from all the world leaders is news worthy. It leaves the Nation wondering if Scotland is going to become independent from England and Wales or not.

I think they also decided to report the MH17 crash report because it could offer closure to those affected by the crash but yet could gain world support to the families of the victims of the crash.

  1. WWW: You've found some good information and Sky News is an appropriate choice to research.
EBI: However, the project isn't complete, which suggests you didn't get organised. For a 60% coursework subject, this is very worrying. You need to learn from this and ensure you manage your workload over the next year. I would have liked to see much more for Task 4.
LR: Do you regularly watch the programme you researched? Why/why not? Where do you get your news from? Answer in a comment below.

  2. I used to watch the program that I researched on but since more technology has been given to me since then, the amount of hours of TV I watch has decreased rapidly.

  3. This is a really good point - young people are watching far less television. But give me more detail! Do you get your news from your phone rather than TV? Twitter? BBC News website? What is it about Sky News that you don't like? Always answer in depth and detail!

  4. I get my news on either the internet or my phone, whichever I have access too, I check it at least twice a day so I can be updated with the current events and all the latest developments. The main issue I have with Sky News is that it has too many commercial breaks which can take a while until the news is broadcasted to the nation.
